Humidifiers
So, we are currently using a humidifier at night to help with the dryness in the nasopahryngeal area, and also to keep the mucus from getting super thick and draining down into the esophagus at night (sleeping in a recliner as well). But I think we have the world's noisiest humidifier! Unfortunately I am one of those people who like it very quiet and very dark when I try to sleep. Does anyone else have a humidifier they like or can recommend? Also, ours is a cool mist one. Is it better to have cool or warm mist?

COOL is better
I believe cool is better as it won't heat up a room and the walls don't sweat. I have a Vicks and it is pratty quite as it does not bowling water the same. It does it with sound. I have a small one on my desk and I can't hear it when it is on. The Vicks holde about 1.5 gal. and will last about 36 hours on med. steeing and it is a varable setting. Wal-Mary had the best price about $39.00 and you still can use vicks in it if ever needed as it is in a packet that goes on the side. Remember to rince it out at least once a month and put a small amount of chlorinein it to sanitizeit and flush it out. I have had mine two years and have to ust it daily because I breath through my neck. You want the humity between 40% and 60%, no more than 60% as you will get mold to grow and you sure don't want that. I picked up a temp and humity meter that sets on the tabe it is very small just under 3" x 4" tall and $9.98 at Wal-Mart also.

Humidifier
Sometimes the cheaper units are better. Mine was less than $20 at Walgreens and has held up fine. It does need to be emptied every day and cleaned once a week with vinegar. Some of the machines create so much vibration you'd think they could humidify a basketball arena. Cool mist is considered safer in case it gets spilled or if you have small children.
