    Hi,
    i had a wdge resection

    Hi,

i had a wdge resection for a metastatic pulmonary nodule from cervical cancer in December of 2012.  It was done VATS and I spent 2 days in the hospital although that was mostly because I had an abdominal surgery at the same time.  My thoracic surgeon said 1 day for wedge resection.  It was the upper right lobe of my lung.  When I came out of surgery I had very little pain and it remained well controlled until I got home.  After that I had a few days of some pretty good pain that oral diladid  didn't quite contain but then I was fine.  Keep up with the breathing exercises to prevent infection.  Now I am fine and can't tell it was ever done.  It's hard to even find my scars.  Hope that helps.  Hugs.

The ACS has someone to talk

The ACS has someone to talk to available by phone 24/7.  If you would like to talk to someone with similar medical histories (including multiple primaries) you can arrange for a phone buddy through LUNGevity.org or Lungcanceralliance.org.

If you live in an area that has a Gildas Club or Cancer Support Community do take advantage of them.  It's very empowering to be in the company of others who have walked the same path.

Many find it helpful to spend the first week or so sleeping in a recliner and keep an extra pillow handy put hug when you have to sneeze or cough.
