lymphedema therapy

My insurance pays for lymphedema therapy but I have to miss work to go.  It doesn't seem to be too effective plus I can do exercises by myself and I have a compression device.  How long would you contunue to go to lymphedema therapy?

    rubbing me the correct way

    stephenaudrey,

Yes, you can do them yourself, they are pretty easy.

I enjoyed the appointments, but I didn’t have to worry about missing any work.

The thing about doing them yourself is you can do it anytime you feel free.

    lymphedema therapy

Thanks Matt.  If the therapy was effective I wouldn't hesitate but it doesn't seem to be doing any good - doesn't seem to be the least bit effective.  I wonder if only time can improve the lymphedema.

    I saw a certified therapist

in head and neck and went 3 times. I thought it was quite beneficial due to the exercises she taught me and the proper amount of pressure to exert. She even made me a custom jovi strap. I did them for aprox 6 months after rad/chemo treatment ended. My lymphedema resolved a year after TX ended.

The lymph system is pretty strange!

    Therapy

I felt it was beneficial. Went half dozen times until could do on my own and got a compression garment.  If time or travel were an issue, I would suggest one or two visits so you could learn to do it on your own.
