Doing great!!
Hi everyone,
A few of you have recently posted on my thread "chemo questions" and I just want to thank you for your kind words of encouragement and well wishes. I began treatment for a recurrance of anal cancer in my lung last spring and finished in June. The chemo really knocked me down for the week of treatment and a few days after then recovered for a week or so until next treatment. The course was every 21 days for 3 months. I developed a clot on my unaffected lung and am currently on warfarin for that but feeling just wonderful! As a surprise my son recently treated me to a trip with his family to Myrtle Beach, SC. He rented a condo right on the beach and we had a fantastic time. We arrived home this afternoon and already find myself dreaming of going back soon.
During treatment I suffered the usual nausea and weakness as well as feeling really tired but not able to sleep well. It was difficult to get comfortable following the lung surgery as well. My hair thinned but really took a beating in the month after treatment for some reason and is now finally slowly coming back!
The connection to all of you and your concern is what kept me going on the rough days and I so very much appreciate being part of this group. I am once again feeling strong and am concentrating on family and graduation (I went back to college a couple years ago after being out for 35 yrs).........then, who knows, maybe a permanent condo on the beach!
I pray the end of summer finds everyone moving forward in health, and for those who are facing this tough challenge with fear and struggles, know that we are all here together to help and support each other always.
Be well......
