L-lysine for mouth sores?
Does anyone take L-lysine for mouth sores? Did your MO approve? Did it work? Is there a particular kind you use?

I did not have a problem with mouth sores, but this is what was recommended to me: Listerine Zero -- the kind that has no alcohol in it.

Usually I rinse three times a day with salt, baking soda, and warm water. Has worked great so far but now I have a sore on my tongue so I think I might need something more than a rinse.

When I did my patient
When I did my patient education for my Xeloda, L-lysine 500 mg. twice per day was recommended for mouth sores. Certainly check with you MO since every doctor is different. When I had the Red Devil last year, I was given a cup of ice to munch on while I was getting my injections. Never had any problems. I've only done one 7 day cycle (3,000/day, 7on/7 off) of Xeloda, so I will let you know if I have any problems.

Thanks! The sore went away so I'm probably got for another week. I'll ask my doc at my appointment Wednesday.

... Tom's Natural toothpaste and mouth wash also works ! You can buy at Target and WalMart ... more expensive that regular toothpase and mouthwaste, but so worth it!
Strength, Courage and HOPE for a cure.
