No taste buds

in Colorectal Cancer #1

I have been off oxaliplatin for 4 weeks now and still have not had my ability to taste come back. Also still have numbness in fingers and feet. Does anyone know how long this takes to return? Or doesn't it?

    Yes and no

    My sense of taste came back quite soon, I'd say within months. The neuropathy is still there two years out. 

    It is different for everyone. Be patient. You may get everything back at one time, or it may take a while.

    My wife

    never lost her "taste" but things did taste differently through treatment.  But, returned to "normal" a couple of months after treatment.  Her neuropathy started around treatment 7 and still is around to this day.  Got to love oxy.........

    My taste returned gradually.  As for the numbness, mine are still numb after 5 years but not everyone is different.  I'm hoping that both of yours return quickly.  Isn't that oxy just nasty stuff Yell
