Mom has mets to eye
Mom has had trouble with her right eye for three weeks. Blurry and sometimes sees a hump on flat surface. Went to optomitrist who thought it was macular degeneration and sent right to a retina specialist who did an ultra sound and found it was matastic cancer. Apparently this is the number two source of eye cancer, breast cancer matastis is number one. Has anyone experienced this? Please pray for my mom. She hasn't even seen the medical oncologist yet, but has an appointment tomorrow.

Your mother
Oh Debbie I am so sorry to hear all that your mother is going thru. I can only imagine how hard this is on you and after all that you have been thru in the last year. You and your mother are in my prayers. Please take care of yourself.
Wishing you and your mother peace and comfort -- Sharon

Best hopes and prayers for a terrific clinical outcome.
This does not have to be a death sentence. My mets did not reach the eye but I want you to know stage 4 is survivable. For questions you may have about this rare occurance you may want to visit the cancergrace.org website. It is monitored and managed by highly regarded oncologists from a number of the NCCN designated comprehensive cancer care teaching hospitals.
Please let us know what you learn. In the meantime, please know that cancer can be transmitted one of three ways (lymphatic system, circulatory system or growing into another organ) and because of that they do find mets in some unusual places. This short video explains it in plain English. I hope you find it enlightening.

What type of cancer is it?jim and i said:Oncologist says the eye tumor
Oncologist says the eye tumor is the priority right now. He scheduled an MRI for the next day. Now awaiting those results.
Debbie
Have they done any testing for useful mutations on it yet? There may not yet have been enough time for that to be completed. Was the eye mets the first indication she has lung cancer?

Dennycee, they have not gotten the results on the mutation results. The eye mets was found after diagnosis. My mom has been putting off the biopsy on a spot in her lungs for over four years. Now it is in two lymph nodes and her eye. She has not decided to do treatment, I don't think she will do treatment. I have a sister that thinks you can cure everything with herbs and supplements and I think that is what she is doing. But it is her body, her life. Doesn't make it easier to accept though. Especially after watching my husband suffer and die with tongue cancer.

Debbie, I'm so very sorry to read this. I hope she will do so something to help stop the eye mets as it is so close to the brain. My mom had horrendous headaches from her brain mets. We're here if you need us or want to vent.
