    Routine Monitoring...

Always a chance that cancer could return (mets) short term, or even a new cancer over time...

But as for monitoring, most do have some form of long term plan for monitoring... The first year or so after having STGIII SCC Tonsils HPV+, I saw my ENT every 2-3 months, my onco every 6-8 weeks, and my rads MD every six months.

The onco would order CT's or PET scans.., for the first five years, I had a PET scan annually, and a CT annually, six months apart. The ENT would scope me at each visit..

Need more of what your question is.

Metastasis - (mets) Spreading of the cancer. It started in one place [like a tumor in your throat] and sperad to a different part of your body.

You might try this link :  http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/what-is-cancer/metastatic-fact-sheet
