Thanks all for the well
Thanks all for the well wishes.
I am having a tough time. My colon has pretty much shut down. Food is near imposible to keep down. I can digest some liquids at a very slow rate. Any advice or sugestions to keep food down would be appreciated! I have lost over 20lbs since my visit with Wolfen. I really need help.
Else, We are still on our plan to move to Houiston. We are trying to get an appointment with MD Anderson and a local GP Doctor on the east side of Houston in mid April. I need to co-ordinate having TPN (IV Nutrition) made for me. I get 95% of my calores from IV nutrition. To move me out there, I need to co-ordinate the Oncologist, home nursing and a Pharmacy that will make and adjust my TPN for me. Then find a place to live, We are going to look around Crosby, East of Houston. Get contracts signed and Laurie will get the house packed up and shipped in a truck driven by a friend. (It is nice to have friends.) She will move out with the dogs in Mid May. It will be a crazy month to get everything done.
I will need to fnd the strength to do what I need to get done. My sister's family lives surrounding the Crosby area, that will give us some extra hands and shoulders to lean on.
Any Sugestions to help me get calories will be coveted! I ust got MJ pills but no change for me so far.
Best Always, mike
PS Laurie's father, Pete just got diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and needs some prayers. My sister is going through rehab on her shoulder. Her father in law just had a stroke. Our mother is recovering from her stroke last year. It has been a tough year for my family and loved ones. It also brought us all quite a bit closer. The reality of everyone not being here and time to make ammends is now, became quite a reality. Thanks All!

So sorry to hear that things are not better for you.
You say your colon has "shut down". Is it possible with all the teatments that your "good bacteria" has been impacted? Have you asked your onc about trying "probiotics"? Is it only solids you have difficulty with?
You and your family are certainly experiencing difficult times.
Prayers for you all for better health.

Why may I ask Crosby little far from MD Anderson main campus.
PM me I live on the border of Houston & Spring in NE Houston.
The Woodlands has plenty of medical facilities as well as Conroe and can be a little rural.

So sorry that you have so much going on. Have the doctors found out what is causing your colon shut down? I hope your colon will wake up again soon. I will put you and your family in my prayers. Good luck with moving to Houston.

my colon feels compromised as well...I'm worried about you.
thats a lot going on with major move across country...getting hooked up with new doctors and trying to do procedures as well.
ask your doc about LINZESS it is a brand new drug that is supposed to help with constipation. I'm about to start it and my doc rx'd the highest dose 290 mg....goes as low as 145 mg.
note: cannot be used if there is a bowel obstruction.
this may be an option for you.
and take my advice.....pay to help you get this all done.....especially the move although you've probably got good friends.
hoping for the best snd sorry you're going through all of this concurrently.

We have family that lives between Humble and Huffman. We want to be some what near them, and have easy acccess to MD Anderson. We have two under 20lb dogs that need a yard, and we need high speed data access. That is our requirements to moving. Any advice would be appreciated. Sheldon to Crosby area seemed reasonable costs and have yards.
Thanks!

MD Anderson has a campus in the Woodlands may be best for you would not recommend the main campus or Sugarland or Katy coming from that directions.Traffic to say the least is horrible here any time of the day.
Let us know when you land and if I can be of some help.

My husband's GI Doctor's office gave him Linzess (in varying dosages) for about a month in December 2013/January 2014. They would only X-ray, which showed extreme stool. Of course, he ended up in the ED a few weeks later with a tumor in his small intestines. 5 days after admission they finally did a ct scan. Darn doctor and hospital!
I may have some left at home if you need me to send you some (Craig or Mike). Let me know, I'd be happy to put them to good use. I'll check at home tonight.

I'm so sorry all this is going on with you And your family, will be sending every kind and healing thoughts I can your way.
To help boost your weight in liquid form, my oncologist has me drinking two Boost Plus a day, it helps also that the Boost rep stocks them up with Boost and so I get a lot for free, plus they have coupons for $2.00 off for every six pack of Boost (depending on where you live $9.00 to $12.00) I have to buy. They also have a tasteless mix (powder) that you can put in water, shakes, and any kind of drink that will give you the same calories (350 in each Boost) and the Boost Plus has a higher protien count in it as well, I don't know price on that because I get mine from the onc's. They also have me eating things like ice cream, sour cream, all stuff that raises your calorie input.
I hope this helps you a little bit at least.
MJ pills aren't the same as the real thing unfortunately.
And get someone to help you out with any packing or moving of things that you have.
Take care and get better.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with your nutrition. You have always been good with traditional nutrition, but I cannot give you better advise than consulting with a professional nutritionalst about your options of getting in more calories. I wish you a quick resolution.

I must have thrown them all away in one of my anger fits, angry at GI dr who kept telling him it was extreme constipation. At least his PA was giving him sample boxes, one less expense.
Glad to see you back Craig :-)
