Hello to everyone!I am 39 years old and a mother of two wonderfull boys. I am watching your forum since last September when I found out that I had a small tumor (1,8 cm) in my right kidney. So  I had a laparoscopic partial nephrectomy at 1 November . My doctor said everything went perfect. The pathology report said it was a clear renal cancer and grade 2. Excuse my english but I am from Greece. Your posts ever since have been very encouraging and gave me hope that I propably have good prognosis for the future. Here comes the problem. Two days ago I had my first post-op CT scan. The report said that sthg was seen in the right kidney but they couldn't be sure of what is it. My doctor saw the report and said that what they found is some sort of glue material he used during the surgery. He said that he is absolutely sure there is nothing there but to ease my mind he ordered an MRI for my kidney. He also said that the istology report after the surgery said that he took it all out and he left me with clear margins. Right now I try to put my mind at ease but I can't. Have anyone of you heard of sthg simila

Unfortuately he didn't see the signs of the disease and when he finally went to look his problem it was too late. I found mine problem incidentally because of other stomach problems.

Anyway I wish you guys all the best in here. It is the best forum I've been in ever. I wish I didn't have to look for such a forum but now that I did I am very happy to have found such wonderful people.

I am your neighbor-live in Bulgaria and have RCC too.My tumour was about 3,5-4 cm and I had full nephrectomy on 17 of september-left kidney.I know how quicly  everything changes when we hear the diagnosis and what a shock  for us is ,but the positive thing is that your tumour was caught in very early stage.With this size of tumour is very unlikely to have reocurance so try to calm yourself and think positive ..think how fortunate  you are that you catch your RCC so early.

It is extremely rare for a small (< 4 cm) tumor to spread.  If the spot identified on the CT is glue, like expected, then the risk of spreading is zero.  If it is a small tumor, the risk of spreading is miniscule (1 in 1000 or less).  The thing is a tumor will grow over time.  That means in 3-6 months, it will be measurably bigger.  The glue will not grow.

 

The real risk of RCC is when it spreads to other parts of the body.

I agree; the chances that

I agree; the chances that such a small tumor would recur in your kidney is very slim. The MRI should put your mind at ease. Unfortunately once we have this awful disease every little thing that happens to our bodies is seen in a very different light. Try not to worry too much because the odds are in your favor. But I totally understand the anxiety. I'm the same way.

This forum saved my sanity last year when I was diagnosed. Like you, I lurked for a while before posting. Anytime you have a question or concern just ask. I found the people here very kind and compassionate and a wonderful source of information. So sorry to hear about your dad. The good thing is yours was caught early. Your chances of no more issues are very good.

It sounds Greek to me.

The saying it sounds Greek to me is a saying in the Englsh language that means we do not understand or comprehend it. I would definately seek the opinion of another surgeon as I due not understand your doctors explanation.
