Check In

Hi all. Although I have not posted of late I still read the board most days. Saddens me there are new members but also great to see all are taking things head on. This board is such a powerful tool for those in the fight, those helping and well anyone really!
I am coming up two years post treatment for a SCC on my tongue. Underwent tongue op, neck dissection, 30 rads and 3 x doses of Cisplatin. No question it was tough but like all here, we get through it.
Personally my sweet taste is gone which is not really such a bad thing. Have put some weight on which is great. I can eat almost anything now but always like to have a cup of water close by! Saliva 70% and getting better. Back running, playing cricket, golf and getting on with things. The next milestone will be the two year scans etc in March this year. Wow, time flies.
My message is that things will get better. It takes time but as mentioned by the board veterans, things improve incrementally. I also endorse the comments that what comes out of this is a abi normal you. I now realise that abi normal is a pretty good place to be!!
Keep fighting!
CPC

I realize that abi-normal is a pretty good place to be!! YEP
I have to agree that time can fly. At first the days seemed to go by so slow and you never thought it would end. You finally got to sleep, and it's time to get up and do it all over again. That was 15 months ago for me.
You're coming up on Two years, which is a wonderful milestone. Enjoy your life, and the Cricket and golf as well. You fought the beast and now have your abi-normal life back, Congratulations...........
