Doctors ??
Wondering what others think of this.... The Doc who put in my PEG tube has decided now he should never had it put in. Reason I had a gastric stomach.. now I have Gastroparesis due to this.
He wants to take it from my stomach and have it placed in my lower intestines. Due to my stomach being full of infection and not working properly. Okay.. I finally agreed. Well he can't find a Surgeon in his hospital network that has the experience to do this.. I am lying in the hospital through all these conversations over the week-end. Well then they come in the room and tell me he said for me to try to find my own surgeon to do this.. I told them discharge me right now!..No point in lying there any more.. Tryng on my own with hubbies help today to try to get something to stay in me... wish me luck in getting through this.. Please... Prayers and Hugs.. Kritter

I am so sorry you are going through all this. When I was having trouble eating and queasy all the time, the doctors talked about bypassing my stomach with an intestinal placement, but the Reglan worked for me. It does seem like a good option in your situation. Most insurance plans let you go out of network if there is no specialist in their plan. You may not have to pay extra. If your doctor can't recommend someone, try your insurance company or state medical board. You are fervently in my prayers!

I know you are not joking.......But that is so wrong.
So you are supose to get the yellowpages and start calling doctors and ask if they do that. If you are still in the hospital, call for your nurse and tell her to get the patient advocate, head nurse or the head Doctor on staff, you need to talk with someone NOW.
If you have keft and are home call your insurance and ask for them to help find a docton "in Network" that does this. Also find a differant doctor to treat you. It should be his job to know or find a doctor that can do this procedure.
You need a gastroenterologist surgeon................Prayers and Big hugs.....As soon as I calm down from reading your poor treatment.

Can you swallow?
If so I say have a better "more competant" surgeon remove the tube so you can heal and try making it through without a tube. You will have less chance of infection and another botched surgery. For me the feeding tube was torture and I never used it but I could swallow. So sorry you are going through this.

Sorry to hear about all you have been thru. Guess my husband has been lucky. He has been on a feeding tube basically since first diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. Only for about 9 months since 2010 has he been without a feeding tube. He has had two different gastro surgeons place his feeding tubes. He just had to have his changed after almost 2 1/2 years which we are told was great.
Now my Aunt on the other hand had esophageal cancer and had the feeding tube placed directly in her intestines and she had several problems with infection being the main problem for her. Sadly after fighting and undergoing many chemos, radiation and surgery she passed away.
You need to find a specialist who knows how to treat your stomach problems and I would definitely report your current doctor to the hospital, your insurance company and the state board. We didn't find out that my husband's throat was closed off due to radition until he had his surgery and yes he had been scoped every time he saw his doctors and had PET/CT scans but it didn't show up until surgery. We were lucky and were referred to a great head and neck specialist who really knew what he was doing after our ENT said he needed a specialist to handle his cancer. Sadly for my husband radiation, chemo, surgery, then a second primary and more radiation and chemo hasn't stopped his cancer but I can honestly say all of his doctors were great. I found that you have to have confidence in your doctors and if you don't, then you need to find one that you can put your trust in.
Wishing you peace and comfort -- Sharon
