Questions about my first three month CT

Hi everyone

I go for my first three month CT 10 days later; I'm very anxious and fearful for the result. I had random little pain in my chest so a Chest Xray was ordered last week. No mets in lung and chest bone were seen so I know there aren't big ones, have no idea about very small ones which can only be caught by CT!!!!  I want to know what the best and worst scenarios are based on your own experiences? It's going to be my baseline chest CT so I don't know what is in the report if it's normal/ suspicious? What "key words" should I be looking for in my report?

Pathology Report: T2b, Nuclear Grade 2, 10cm, confined to kidney, no invasion or extension.

Look for "unremarkable" or " no evidence of metastatic disease". 

 

I have no advice as to your stage.  Many others here have experience and are very wise. I wish you good health though

Tumors can show up on xrays,

Tumors can show up on xrays, so probably nothing there.  If you want, post your report online here and others can help you understand it. Scan time brings lots of anxiety, but don't let it get the best of you.  Chances are all is ok.  Hugs!  By the way, is it only going to be of the chest? A full body/ct petscan is the best, i would ask for one.

Three Month CT

I think it's great you're getting a full set of CTs three months out. Did you have one before the surgery too? (I mean chest/abdomen and pelvis). With contrast? Will this one be with contrast?

The norm seems to be 4-6 months out, particularly with lower stages and grades. Stage 2 and Grade 2, you have an excellent chance of being cured from the nephrectomy. It most likely will be just fine.

Todd, Thanks for your reply. I did abdomen/pelvis CT with contrast before the surgery but I just did Chest X-Ray before the surgery so it's my first Chest CT now. I asked my surgeon for Chest CT before the surgery but he said the tumor was too big to wait even one more day (it took 6 days since the flank pain to the surgery in my case) so he ordered an urgent surgery and after it he said there was no need for the CT at that time because the pathology report was fine. This time it will be with contrast too. I hope everything will be fine.

The good words are unremarkable and normal. I have always had "fatty liver" to add to whatever else they see. Read my "funny one"post From a few days back. Scans make your mind crazy and that is understandable.Even after two years and close to 20 scans, I get nervous. Have confidence that you can handle the worst and the best takes care of itself. many of us here are stage IV and still living life. A lung spot or a suspicious area are not what you want, but it doesn't mean what it did even 3 years ago...

As the others have said unremarkable is the word I look for first, never have I been so glad for some pieces of my anatomy to be called that! Xx
