long acting pain meds
Hey everyone,
Have a question for anyone using meds. like MS contin (extend release 12 hr). I've been on a very low dose for quite awhile now, using vicodin for break through pain. Are there any weird side effects other's have had using these ? I put a message into my primary today. I'm recently having bizarre episodes of seeing things that aren't really there. Nothing like pink elephants, or monsters...lol. More like shadows, and thinking a spider is crawling on the table...only to find nothing is there. At first I blew it off, but it is occurring more and more recently. I suppose there will be a simple answer....hopefully not needing to go in for more scans. Thanks for any input ! Katie

Let your Dr know

Is a link of most side effect.
It can change your vision, as well as colors. Not very comon but can happen. I can't take Demoral because it Increases pain for me, go figure.
I prefer to use Norco over Vicodin because it has less acetaminophen. Once I was out of the hospital I stopped the morphine and went to Norco.

Kate for the short time I was on them I really didn't like the effects. Didn't feel like me! G.

I've never been on long term
pain meds.....but times I've needed pain meds for surgery etc......I've hallucinated on every one of them. I'm thinking that all pain meds probably work on the same part of the brain....so maybe long term use of milder forms could cause a person to see things....just shadows out of the corner of your eye, etc.

I would like to know if it works different or as well as the morphine ? I also have tremendous pain most day's. But not wanting to increase dosage right now, trying to keep a handle on it. (Norco)
I will look up this med., and see if it might be an alternative. Thanks Bill ! Katie
