    I have to watch it at home but I sure hope it says the cost is outrageous because the cost is outrageous!

    Yes! Outrageous!

    Regarding the drug (Zaltrap) it was twice as expensive as the similar drug (Avastin) and both drugs improved median survival by 1.4 months. When cancer center Sloan-Kettering decided not to use Zaltrap because of the expense and published their decision in the NY Times, the drug company said that it would cut in half the price of a new cancer drug. Why not just do that in the first place?

    this on 60 minutes.  Ugh.  It's bad enough folks have to battle this stupid disease.  Worse that there our drug companies "taking advantage" of the situation, from what appears to be for no reason.

    The drug companies know we are desperate and will do pay anything for some hope/more time. I know I was really excited a couple of years ago at the news of Zaltrap and Stivarga getting fast track approval from the FDA. It turns out that both drugs again are pretty diapointing.

    When I was at MD Anderson one of the trials they were considering for me was Stivarga and Erbitux combined since Stirvarg doesn't seem to work by itself for the majority of people. It seems that many of the cancer drugs work much better in combinations then alone. It sounds brutal though combining all of the skin issues from Erbitux with HFS from Stivarga.
