Thank you all forHere I am!
Thank you all for worrying about me. I love you all!!!!
I wish I could say I have been to the beach, but things have been a little rough aroung here. After the 2nd endoscopic US of the pancreas, the doc got 8 samples. All are came back "indeterminate." However, this surgeon (a different one from the first) expressed again his concern about a mass on my pancreas.
Then, 2 days after that procedure, I spiked a temp and was admitted to the hospital for sepsis (2 different bacteria - both normal intestinal bacteria but in the blood were they don't belong). Thank goodness no MRSA or worse!!! I have been on antibiotics for a week and was discharged home from the hospital with an adorable (not) little pump so we can continue the IV antibiotics until Sunday. We also found out that the pancreatic stent had been dislodged in the procedure and all my labs were elevated again, so I went back for another stent placement the next day.
A liver biopsy (which I had so hoped could be done) is off the table. The very tiny mass that shows up on PET is in the one place in the liver that is inaccessible: directly behind and next to the heart. If they try and poke a needle there (while my chest is continuously moving with breathing movements), there is an unacceptable risk of hitting the heart.
They might be able to get to it surgically, but it is major abdominal surgery that means moving organs and using a scope and still no guarantee that they can isolate this small active bit of liver.
My trusted onc said forget it. His only big concern now is that the 3 different docs who have seen my pancreas are very worried about a visible mass. Onc just doesn't want to find out I have a primary pancreatic cancer unrelated to breast mets. My onc has a "specialist" interventional radiologist who is going to get a percutaneous (through the skin) aspirate of the pancreas tomorrow. He said the biggest risk factor is pancreatitis, but he told me I already had pancreatitis and the pancreatitis has been visible on my films since 8/27 when they put in the first pancreatic stent. No wonder I have been feeling so yuck!
Anyway, if this is negative, onc is going to proceed assuming this is related to breast cancer mets (and not a primary pancreatic mass) and will hopefully be back on chemo soon.
However, for the first time ever, my EF on MUGA dropped to 47% (from the 60's), so everything is on hold anyway. I suspect some of that drop was due to pancreatitis and feeling cruddy, but we'll see with repeat.
So, please, if you still can, jump on the pink bus for me tomorrow at 10! Hopefully, this is the last of the pokings and proddings!!!

Really sorry for endless porocedures infection and hard time
i wish doctors would honestly admit that they do not know, instead of getting additional biopsies
good luck tomorrow

I'll be there CC!! I'll bring Panera Cherry Vanilla bagels. They just came back out. That's the breast cancer pink ribbon bagels flavor when they come out in October. They are delicious. But seriously, I wish you all the best with your procedure. Sending positive thoughts and lots of hugs.
