New Immunotherapy Approach for Breast Cancer Shows Promise

i found this very interesting method as I was looking at new approved cancers drugs. First immunotherapy drug was recently approved for melanoma On Sep 4.

Keytruda (pembrolizumab) is approved for treatment of patients with advanced melanoma that no longer responds to other drugs. It is the first FDA-approved drug that blocks a cellular pathway called PD-1, which restricts the body's immune system from attacking melanoma cells.

I hope the reading of this new method for breast cancer which is undergoing clinical trial will lift up your spirit.

    That has been my goal since 2010.

    Immunotherapy seems to be the best option for melanoma and my new onco works only with melanoma and breast and is part of the research team. You will be in a great position at UCLA as they have some of the best research going on this. Hopefully the FDA wont turn the study down in Feb. I would have no problem being in a phase I trial on immunotherapy for bc. So far, there has been very little side effects with it. Keep our fingers crossed that it will be approved! I would go to UCLA to participate, or Stanford. Look up Dr. WEISSMAN he has been working on this since the 90's, and the tumors in the mice never returned after being treated. He was working on 5 different cancers and it was effective on them all. Breast Cancer was one of them. When I contacted them in 2011, they thought itnwould be open for phase I in 2012 so my goal was to stay healthy enough til then. FDA rejected it so they made changes, resubmitted for 2013, but it ws stalled again, same with 2014. Now hoping for 2015 for bc! I can't give up hope! Carol

    Did they say WHY they (the FDA) keep turning it down?  You are GREAT with that 'can't give up hope'.... KEEP THAT HOPE ....Never give up.

    Phase III Clinical Trial w/ NeuVax

    MD Anderson to begin enrolling (within days/few weeks) a Phase III Clinical Trial... immunotherapy (NuVax) for Her2/neu positive BC.  The guidelines have not been published.  I spoke with the research nurse.  50 slots... neoadjuvant and adjuvant.  Adjuvant qualification  - minimum of 4 positive nodes and I'm sure other requirements... The conversation stopped at the node requirement which I didn't meet!
