Foxy has a smile for you :)
My brother in law took this the other day while we were playing with Foxy in his back yard. She loves frisbees! She hasn't learned to catch them yet but is trying. She is improving but is still an energetic puppy. Had an incident a month ago with her right hind knee. Vet said it's a "luxating patella" which basically means her knee cap slips out of place. She was in a lot of pain when it first happened but is fine now. It still pops out of place occasionally but she has learned how to pop it back in place or I will do it. I could have surgery done but it's pretty expensive and she's not in pain so I'm kind of "watching and waiting" on this .
Overall she's turing out to be a very good dog. She still has accidents in the house but much less often. Becky, hanging the bell on the kitchen door has worked all too well. She rings it when she wants to go out and eat bugs or terrorize squirrels, rabbits and occasionally the deer . She loves the park and is very good with other dogs and children. She's pretty dominant by nature so I'm working on showing her who's boss. She's a child with a very loving and playful heart and I'm gonna say it. "She loves her daddy."
So big smiles and hugs from Foxy, the furry, frolicking, feisty, four-legged friend!

I have to say, she really does look like a fox......so cute. I sure got a laugh about the bell. I know the look, they ring it, you run in and grab the door and they stand there and look at you like....."that's not it, guess again". One time when Gracie rang it and kept the blank look on her face, I kept thinking, okay you were just out, you just ate, you have water, what can it be? So out of desperation, I emptied her water dish and washed it and filled it up again. She immediately drank up and walked away. I am thinking tho that this gives them a good way to communicate where we will immediately respond. I am so happy you and Foxy have each other, it just takes making the plunge, and you are hooked. Hope that knee will be okay as time goes by.

When I first read the caption, I thought of Doggie Dentures. Obviously I am watching too much TV. LOL

FOXY
Jim:
Foxy is very cute. How old is she now? I am very jealous. Would love to have a dog again. There is always the walking problem as I am in an apartment now. Our last pup got walked, or rather he walked us, and we had a line running from the back door to the back of the house, for emergency dog outings. Have you ever heard of electrified wiring outdoors, underground, which keeps a dog in a certain area? My sister-in-law has this for her poodle in a rural area. I don't like the sound of it somehow.
I probably mentioned that I have a lovely grey cat. She's a snuggly creature, and we love her. However, there is nothig quite like a DOG.
Please advise: Do you know why when I am typing, the print shrinks? Don't know what I am hitting.

Hi GGgivingrace said:Hi Jim,
How did you train herHi Jim,
How did you train her with the bell ?
GG
Becky (Illead) suggested it. I orderd a set of bells you can hang on the door knob. It didn't take her long to learn that she got attention and taken out when she rang the bell . It has worked too well I think . Most of the time she just wants to go outside for "fun". She does do her business sometimes when she rings it though. I normally take her out in the morning and she's very good then about taking care of business. It's the rest of the day that lacks.
I started off my taking her to the door and ringing the bell myself and taking her out. Didn't take her long to learn this. Wish she was so "quick" with other things. Recently at my brother in law's, she walked over to his back door and kind of sat there (no bell). I took her out and she peed. I was so proud of her. I'm trying to be patient but sometimes she frustrates me to no end. At other times, she makes her daddy proud. I guess it's that way with all "kids" - LOL.
Hugs,
Jim

Jim,
That is some high dollar orthodontic work you had done on Foxy ! She is sure to make the cheerleader squad at dog school, and may well go on to become a news anchor babe at Dognews.com .

Thanks Jim and Becky for sharing this tip. I have a doggie door for Hazel but she wants nothing to do with it. It freaks her out. Every 8-10 days she will have a #2 accident. She's very smart at night she will move sleeping areas from bed to couch or couch to bed (yes my friend put it in my room so if my young adult kids come hang out or somebody needs to take care of me ) Anyways she will give a low growl and low bark I reach over turn light on she jumps on floor moves to new spot and I turn light back off. So she has me trained very well. I am gonna get a bell and see if we can be successful. She was gifted to me a week before my accident and she has saved me so much grief and given me so much joy and love. Ok I'm on a mission now. I'll keep you posted on our success.

Just wanted to tell you how beautiful that picture is of Foxy snuggling with her stuffed animal. She has very interesting, pretty ears, I think. Amazing, she learned to ring a bell when she wants to go out. My last two fox-terrier type dogs never were totally housebroken. We tried and failed. They both chose one particular rug under the piano. My last pup would leave "presents," as you call them, in the driveway. And my mother, who was quite a character, would occasionally, in freezing weather, get out a golf club and use it to get the presents away from the side of the house. (temporary solution, I want you to know!) Our neighbors were amused.
My beautiful Kat, Blue, falls asleep with her paw in my hand. So cute.
Will try your suggestion for my Windows 8 laptop. Everything shrinks on the screen.
