Question

I have been on 800 mg Votrient for the past 18 months and so far it’s working great. The only bothersome side effect is the diarrhea. I am taking Lomotil to help. And it has been working for the most part. I have noticed that when I eat beef the diarrhea is dramatically worse and more often. Chicken and pork I don’t have the same issue. You could almost call it regular. Has anyone seen this? Sorry for the strange question…..

    Beef

I was taking afinitor last year and had suffered nausea the first few months. It was particularly bad when I ate beef. I talked to my uncle, who is an oncologist, and he said he experienced lots of patients on various chemo therapies have more trouble eating beef than other meats with various problems.

So I'd say it's not a strange question.

I avoided beef as much as possible while I was on afinitor. I'm now doing it just for health reasons.

    Beef

As much as I hate so do it but no more beef for a while. EVERYTIME I eat beef same thing happens. Wife just told me she isn't buying anymore beef. Todd you are right it's probably better health wise not to eat it.. Thanks.

    Problem could be in pancreas

The meds slow down pancreatic functions.  The pancreatic enzymes are needed to digest fats.  Could be that the beef fats are harder on your enzymes than the other foods. Try using artificial pancreatic enzymes ("Creol" and similar) to help digest.
