Bone radiation consultation questions prep reading

Hi all

i need your help

they fit me in for tomorrow radiation oncology consultation unfortunately My RO an vacation and recommends his partner what questions to ask? I have multiple sites in weird locations

any advice and suggestion will be helpful and highly appreciated

    I don't have any helpful advice or suggestions to offer, but just wanted to say I'll be thinking about you tomorrow.  

    Sometimes it's a blessing in disguise when we have to see another doctor -- sometimes a fresh perspective or a new approach can be just what you need.  I'll be waiting to hear tomorrow that your doctor's partner has some positive, encouraging ideas for a treatment plan for you, and is confident he can kick this b*tch out of town!

    Sending hugs and prayers!!! 

    My usual radiation questions are:

    What are side effects of where they will be radiating? (each place is different)

    What is the best way to deal with the se?  Do they recommend certain creams or lotions to help with skin care?

    Many times, I don't really know what to ask until I have a se.  For example, when they radiated my right ribs, I experienced mild nausea.  I then asked the RO about it on the next visit and he said that, because the affected ribs wrapped around my liver, that I could have some queasiness. 

    We are sending the Pink Bus with you to make sure all goes well!!!!  I will be the Kindred covered in beignet powdered sugar.  ((((Hugs)))) and keep fighting!!!!

     i do need hugs for sure, my medical oncologist has been on medical leave as well, I have had a second opinion even without reting hard. Hope the new RO will be as nice as the old one.

    appointment update

    my appointment went well, however I hoped that some new radiation technique will be available  to treat my bone. There is a lot of new approaches instead of a full breast radiation like I did 5 &1/2 years ago. Nothing new for mets. The doctor is going to radiate extended area as the old and new tumor has collated as a one. 10 treatments, of course i hoped for less. There is almost no SE (we know how it goes) just possible problems bowel movements or digestion.   

    My stimulation appointment is scheduled on 7/22. In the meantime, I am shopping for low raise string bikini panties, hoping they allow me wear it and wondering why I do not have this style in my underwear collection.

    Olga, I am glad it went well, but I understand how you feel.  I keep waiting for a magic bullet...sigh.

    The bikinis sound like a great idea!  I love your sense of humor. Wink

    Good luck with your radiation and I am hoping that you do as well as I did!  I really didn't have any major se and my ribs felt better within a week or so.

    I am glad that you went.
    The se I experienced were with sswelling in the areas that I have been raduated, and some necrosis in the hips areas. However, the pain relief was well woth the se.
    I wad able to keep my panties on with the ladt rads. The tatoo's were above and below on the hup line so they were able to still line up the machine. I hated being exposed.

    Hi all

    started radiation on Monday. Well not too bad, however feel fatigue after each treatment 

    Oncologist told me it should be easier than breast. maybe because the breast was 40 "to cure" this time around 10 treatments for pain management I saw the scan area / tumor looks huge to me. Let's hope for the best

    Glad it is going well for you so far.
    I am glad you decided to go for it. I am glad I did it and got a lot of relief for many months! I did learn thou, not to eat popcorn or nuts for a time after to give your intestines time to heal. No one told me until after the fact and ended up in E.R. with diverticulitis! No funl
    Will keep hoping for the best for you!
