in Ovarian Cancer #1

Started my second round of chemo today with carbo and gemzar. Did have flushing and itching with carbo. This i the 8th cycle when you count my initial treatment. They stopped the infusion, and treated me with benadryl and solumedrol. I was able to finish with no problem. My CA125 is down to 32!!! Laughing  Kim

    Hi Kim

    So glad to hear that your CA 125 is coming down a lot already!  Glad too that they took care of the flushing and itching so quickly.  May the chemo kick your cancer's butt to the curb for good!

    Carbo

    I am so happy for your great ca125!!  You got a great result with your first round!

    That is the same allergic reaction I had last month on carbo/Gemzar.  It was my 8th carbo, as well, and my first day to add Avastin.  After the not-brief intermission for benedryl, steroids and flushing, we continued on.

    This month, (last week) there was debate over continuing with the carbo and lots of steroids, but at the last minute, my gyn-onc decided it wasn't worth the risk.  My ca125 results weren't stellar - carbo wasn't knocking the cancer out of the park - so I just got Gemzar/Avastin this month.  My ca125 is hovering around 80.  Looking for improvement next month!

    Hi Kim.... Great numbers!

    I became allergic to the carbo part of my Gemzar / carbo cocktail and could no longer tolerate it. I was switched to cisplatin / Gemzar and had very good results. Love that 32.....   (((((Hugs))))))) Maria

    Here are some more

    (((((((HUGS))))))))).  Best of luck with that new treatment. I go back tomorrow for my ....... Drumroll please....... 39th! ....... Round of cisplatin/Gemzar. The chemo nurses tease me and tell me I should be able to infuse myself by now :)
