welcome
Ajax,
Welcome to the H&N forum, so sorry that you find yourself here.
Your sister is correct “you are going to be ok”. It may be a bit _ _ of a rough ride, but you can do it. Feel free to ask any question, someone here will have an answer.
My first bit a advice, start drinking water an swallowing, it sounds goofy, but it is not (if you have rads).
Good luck,
Matt

Hello Ajax FC and Cajun Babycakes
I am sorry you find yourselves here in the club that no one wants to join, but there are allot of good members here to guide you along this road. I am sure you have questions, so ask away as someone here will have great advice, as you can see Matt touched on a very important one already- Hydration, we need to stay hydrated during treatments or a bunch of issues start popping up.
I had Base of Tongue cancer as well, lymphnode involvement, etc. That was roughly 9 1/2 years ago.
So instead of me typing allot of stuff that you may need to do, we will wait for your questions. Ask questions when needed, VENT when you feel you need to,we listen well.
My Best to You, Your Family and Everyone Here

Thank you for your help and friendship. I am sure I will need the support
Welcome to the group and it is the best you can find. For support, understanding and just good listeners when you need to vent because of a bad day. They, all, have been there for me in ways they don't even know. Mine was Larynx cancer T3,N0,M0 and neck dissection on both sides [86 glands] and took my voice box so I breath through my neck. So I never had chemo or radation so the others can help answers with that. Just know and trully beleave you can get through this and beat it. So many have done already. Will send prayers your way as well. It is a bumpy road you are going to go down, but your not alone in this. The people here understand what it is and how you feel.

Thank you for all the thoughtfulness and help ...it will be so helpful to lean on so many as I begin this journey...
Sorry you had the need to find us but happy you did. Hydration and nutrition will help you through this. Try to fatten yourself up ahead of time. My motto was always to "take it as it comes and deal with it". There are alot of side effects but you won't get them all and they come in varying degrees. Don't waste needless energy fretting about what may never happen.
Prayers for an easy journey.
