PET result

Interval resolution of previous areas :-) However...always that damn however...slight uptake in right supraclavicular lymph node. (Collar bone area) What that means...another CT scan this Wednesday. Really, is the insurance going to buy into a CT last Thursday, a PET Friday and another CT Wednesday?Doc claims CT last week for cellulitus stopped short of lymph node in question and while it may just be the infection he needs to rule out mets. If it is something, atleast we have moved away from the carotid arteries :-)

    so happy for you

I am so happy for the good results. I'm sure the lymph node is nothing. My mom had lymph node update in her abdominal area few times and it turned out to be just an infection.

    Damn those "howevers".....

always something to keep a person on the edge of their seat.  Sending huge prayers that the node is nothing.....cellulitus is an infection afterall, and this node was "just short" of being in the scan, so maybe she decided to try and join the fight.

Sending prayers and huge positive thoughts that this is nothing.....

    Let's hope

Let's just hope and pray the lymph gland is just doing what it is suposed to do and only be a small infection. I had my first lymph gland removed 50 years ago. It was dealing with a simple infection and just got pluged up and had to remove it. Hadn't thought about that in years, but it was nothing to be concerned with. Hope and pray yours is just the same....nothing to be concerned with.

    prayers

    hwt,

I pray this turns out to be a simple answer.  I know what you mean with the insurance end of it.  Just went through this a few months ago.  2 CT's w/contrast and a PET/CT in a month.  Medicare is kicking their heels at me and the onc. dept.  Sometimes I wonder if it's overkill coming from the clinic/doctors....or truely needed.  My areas were the lungs, and liver.

Well I guess, given time and patience, things will pan out.  Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts and only wishing for the all clear for you !  Hugs sent !  katie

    suv?

    Hi Candi,

Sorry there is some question and murkiness in the report. What is the SUV for the node with "slight updake"? Slight is a word meaning something was seen and often times it does not indicate cancer. Often times, as you mention, it is inflamation.

False positives are prevalent and one of the issues raised about PET scans - how much do they catch vs how much do they send everyone in a needless panic. The jury is still out about the need and frequency of them beyond that six to twelve months post. If you care to read up on it the standard of care guidelines published by NCCN does not recommend all those scans unless there is some reason to suggest the need.

    Good luck,

    Don
