Thyroid?/Update 6-18-2014
First off how is everyone doing this Fathers Day?Hope everyone is fine and having a good time,I was going to post a new thread about the thyroid gland,Went in Friday to have an ultra sound done on my thyroid and during my check up the Lady running the ultra sound was stopping frequently and marking small dark spots here and there,And when i asked her if that was serious she would reply by I don't have an MD after my name so I cannot tell you anything except you'll have to talk to your doctor about it,That's Ok I am a little worried but I know the routine. Was wondering if this is something to worry about(knowing that it ain't cancer till they say it's cancer). But to top everything off as soon as I had layed down for my ultra sound the nurse asked if I was there for the mass on my left neck ( this is what I had started this for ).I had asked her ,What mass?I thought I was told that the mass was under control and that my doctor said that he was 90% sure that that cancer was gone.I had asked the nurse if I could read the last copy from the last scan that was done. She said I could read it but I'd have to get with medical records for a copy of it.After reading the mumbo jumbo doctor talk stuff, the best I could make out of this is that my lump has shrunk but that it was not gone and my thyroid (as of January) was not swollen, plus I had a lympnode involved and that there was no change to that,I was wondering if this is a misdiagnosed problem cause I don't remember the doctor reading any reports last scan I had.I am to see him June18th to get the results of the thyroid ultra sound,Is this normal or did I prematurely change jobs that had great life insurance,Sorry had to Vent and ask these questions, feeling a little lost right now and feeling let down by my doctors if this is true. Thanks for the ears Chris
Well just got back from the ENT my thyroid has a couple of scist on it and not big enough to worry about, But below my thyroid they found a small 1cm lump and it is SCC again,Did a needle Biopsy and now have to go and do all the scans (ct,MRI,Pet) just to see if we can find the Primary. We all have had most of these scans. But at least this time I'm going in eyes wide open knowing what to expect,Plus i have my Family here in Texas and I have my other family here at CSN.Was just wanting to let all know,Thanks for the prayers,I'll try and keep my chin up and hit this one head strong. Will know something by june 26th on what to expect. Will keep all informed,Have a good one,Chris

Lot of supposition in there
Chris why don't you enjoy this fathers day as best you can. Thyroids are full of nodules to the point where it's quite common in most adults. I went thru the thyroid prodding thing and I have a thyroid nodule as well a nodules in other scary places. The operative word for you in reading the mumbo jumbo is, "unchanged". Unchanged might just be your new status and it's just as good as NED at the supermarket. Nurse was probably just reading your diagnosis about the mass on left neck. It's always gonna read that way. My chart says carcinoma of the tongue even though the cancer has been gone almost five years now. I understand the Paranoia of the scans but it's just best not to ask these technicians anything because we then start to interject conditions on their responses which usually have no hidden meanings but we can find them and create them in a paranoid state.

Thyroid
I had graves disease a couple of years before my tonsil cancer, and had been seeing a endo for that. (Radioactive iodine treatment). Didn't have an ultrasound...Until
After I had the cancer and chemo and radiation, my doctor had me get a ultrasound on my thyroid.
It wasn't because he suspected a problem, he wanted to get a "baseline" in case there are concerns later.
Hopefully, that is all that was. Happy Father's Day - to you and all dads

Chris, this doesn't sound
Chris, this doesn't sound very good and I'd be a little worried. I don't do well with new symptons or anything questionable tho. if it were me, i'd move the appointment up to the first day i could get in. i wouldn't want to wait to have my questions answered. you never have to be sorry for venting or anything else here, that is why we are here. we help thru the rough times, celebrate with the good times, listen at troubled times, pray for the scary times and whatever else it takes to help someone thru this trip. I hope you get the answers to all your questions and I'm praying they are good news. Please be sure to let us know. Praying for the best news ever, Chris!
God bless you,
dj

Thanks Lorna,
And have a great day your self,So how's everything with you these days?
Its a slow recovery - at least getting my energy back up. It is taking longer than I want, but I don't think longer than others excpect.
Have to see the ENT in a couple of weeks for a follow up because of a lesion on my tongue. He said my tongue is swollen a bit. Hopefully, that is just the thyroid meds not high enough.
Does you doctor or hosptial have a patient portal. Sometimes you can get a sneak peak at your results if the doctor posts them.

Prayers sent your way, Chris, If you are too anxious, you should be able to pick up a written copy of scan results tomorrow from the facility that did it.

Should probably call. Sometimes they require you to show ID before giving you access. Not all do that. You might be able to google the hospital name + patient portal.
