Recipe Added
Member "Mardigras" recently added a recipe for "Mardigras' Turkey and Ginger". That's the first activity in about two years. It took awhile for me to figure out/remember how I set this up but I got it. Below is the link to the site and a list of recipes. I set this up almost 3 years ago for our members, caregivers and friends as a means to share recipes. I think mardigras probably read the post with rocquie's blueberry cake and add the recipe. It's still available to use.

I actually got that from a long time friend who really is quite the baker. His family is Dutch (he grew up speaking Dutch and English) and he makes wonderful pies, cakes and desserts in general.
He is often asked to bring this pie to family social gatherings. He recently told me he's learning how to make homemade limoncello which I think he's going to use in a dessert. Years ago, when we lived in Texas, he used to win contests with his 7 layer chocolate cake (all from scratch I think). He lives in his hometown in Michigan now and we try to visit each other when we can. He has come down for Thanksgiving a couple times and we laugh about the "imported" turkey he brought down from Michigan that he got for about $5.00 where he grocery shops there. He's been such a good friend to me through everything. Anyway, I digress. Thanks for the kudos on the recipe!

Funny you should mention that. When we were in Florence, Italy in '06, we were in a little shop that sold limoncello. Bill was asking about it and the girl directed him to another sales girl who spoke no English. Through translation she said that the village she was raised in was where they first made it and she knew the recipe by heart so she gave it to Bill and we have made it and it is delicious. I will give it to you here as it may take me awhile to figure out to get on your recipe page and we are leaving for Cabo in the morning and I am packing etc. (we have the internet there). I wanted to say that we have very good Dutch friends also and oh yes, they can bake!
Here's the recipe. The first one is hers but we could only find a 750 ml of 75.5% pure alcohol of Everclear which is pure alcohol so the 2nd recipe is what Bill calculated for the change in size and purity.
Original recipe: Recalculated for 750 ml. of 75.5% alcohol
1/2 liter 100% pure alcohol (not proof) 750 ml. 75.5%pure alcohol (not proof)
Zest of 13 lemons Zest of 11-13 lemons
Let sit 15-20 days Let sit 15-20 days
Then add: Then add:
1 liter water 4 cups water
700 grams sugar 3 1/2 cups sugar
Let sit 3-5 days Let sit 3-5 days
BTW, in another town we were in, they made orangecello: I suppose you could just change the lemons to oranges and maybe change the amt. of sugar a little

Perceptive !jimwins said:Let me know what you think if you really made it, Max. I realize you might have been joking with me .
Jim,
Although I cook fairly well, I am not a baker. Therefore I just had the Tequila, minus the cake.....
But, after a short time, it did not seem to matter.

In my younger days in Texas, I had quite a few of those "short times", Max . I rarely party now but do once in awhile. Just can't handle it like the good old days and my finances really don't allow much of it these days. I've seen tequila do strange things to people though.

I suppose you could try things like pineapple as well. I wonder if you could do something with watermelon or other melons? I used to really like midori which I think is made from melon.

No but a good friend "crossed over" one night and his right eyebrow kept going up like Mr. Spocks and he started crying saying if he would have gone to "Nayishville" he would have been a great country singer. He then proceeded to sing (actually didn't sing bad but with a slurr). We didn't let him drive.
This is funny:
