I haven't posted in a long time - but I have been lurking. Sad to see so many new people and sad to see so many leave. But glad to know there is a place to go  full of caring people when you need it!

It's time for my 1 year follow up scans. I know my tumor ended up not being cancer after all,  but I am scared. And I don't feel like I have the right to be. I am so scared that those 2 tiny "somethings" in my remaining kidney have turned into something - cancer or not - I'm afraid they will say more surgery and the possible loss of my other kidney. I know its irrational - but the fear is still there.

(And seeing the report the other day about the tech that falsified lab reports to indicate no cancer when there actually was, b/c she "didn't care about her job" , hasn't helped any! Undecided)

I guess I'm just venting...

Anyway "Hey guys!"

hi just offering you a hand to hold, I have just started this horrible journey And will be having a partial neprectomy in a couple of weeks. I can understand your scan anxiety, but I'm sure everything will be fine. Im sure the others members will be able to offer you more advice. Keep your chin up.

    Hi there MeMe:)

Hi there MeMe, I have often wondered how you were getting along! It is always a worry when it comes to check up dates, you are not being irrational at all. I am sure you will do just fine though, try not to stress too much, what is your scan date?

    Scared..is like

being a public speaker with stage fright.  It means you care about the outcome; and you have a very valid reason to be scared.

Over the years, it does get a little easier.  But even now, I still get anxious prior to the tests or an Oncology appointment, even if it's just for labs and a "see you in four months."

You will learn how to settle yourself into the routine of being a survivor, with time.  You've been through an emotionally draining life experience.  Take time to build yourself back up, and continue with a routine that makes you healthy and comfortable.

Most of all, zip on a smile and go your merry way.
