Latest Pet Scan

We got our end of chemo pet scan today :( My husband finished his 6 rounds of ABVD on Monday, April 7th. He got his PET scan Thursday and we received the results today. His cancer has gotten worse and the fluid has begun to fill around his lungs again. He has done such an awesome job and he looks wonderful. The doctor said he needs a new biopsy to see if it has transformed or if it just became resistant to treatment. He needs to make an appointment with a doctor who specializes in stem cell transplants. He said he wont be able to use his own stem cells and he will need a donor. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Also, Im near Phoenix AZ. Is there a doctor that I need to see out here? Thanks

    Hi Chris

I am on my way out but wanted to rspond briefly at this point.  I'm sorry your husband has gotten worse and probably needs to go the stem cell route.  There are several folks on here who have had or are going through stem cell transplants (SCT).  I'm sure some of them will chime in shortly.  I'm pasting a link to a site I found with some information to get you started:

    http://www.cancer.org/treatment/treatmentsandsideeffects/treatmenttypes/bonemarrowandperipheralbloodstemcelltransplant/stem-cell-transplant-allogeneic-transplant?docSelected=stem-cell-transplant-donor-experience

I just wanted you to know we're listening and I'll try to contribute more later (going out of town later today).  You guys hang in there!

    Hugs - Jim

    So sorry

I am so sorry.  I know how you feel, I'm the wife too.  This had to be such a jolt for you both.  I wish I could make it better for you.  Please be assured tho that they are making many breakthroughs in many cancers and specifically lymphoma treatments.  It is easier said that done but try to relax and take one day at a time.  Oncologists are usually very good at what they do.  They may seem abrupt at times but they are very caring and knowledgeable, so I am sure you are in good hands.  Please know that we are hoping for the best and we are always here to listen.

    Thanks Jim and Becky. We

Thanks Jim and Becky. We finally got an appointment with the transplant specialist scheduled for Monday and the new biopsy scheduled for Wednesday. Thanks for the article Jim. I feel so unprepared this time. Most of the research I have done on the transplants has been a little too overwhelming and I'm not sure what I need to ask. I'll let you know how it goes.

    thanks for the update

I have been worried about you both.  Glad it is proceeding on.  I know it is very ominous for you.  Just know that you are in our thoughts and we are all here for you.
