14 months post op...now feeling some discomfort

Had a partial done 14 months ago.  My first scan at 6 months post op was clear.  About 2 months ago I started feeling some discomfort on my left side (where my partial was done).  Not really pain, but definitely some new sensation that feels like it's not on the surface where the scar is, but rather deeper.

Is that common to have?  I'm requesting my next scan get bumped up, just to check things out.

    Check it out

    Mike,

It could be a hundred different things or nothing. That is what doctors and scans are for.

    Hopefully nothing. Keep us posted.

    Hey Mike

Nice to see you posting. Hopefully it's just adhesions. Internal abdominal surgery can leave scars that kind of "stick" things together where they don't move freely like before. Hopefully that's all it is. I've had some sensations like that too. I've had 3 surgeries on my right side in that area (an appendectomy, this nephrectomy, and a hernia repair). I definitely remember feeling the adhesions pretty strong a year after my appendectomy. It took awhile to calm down.

Still I think it's worth checking out. You'll feel better.

    Hey Todd!

Yeah, I'm thinking it's just my internal nerves reconnecting or getting re-organized.  I hope anyway!  But I was thinking that should have happened at the 6-8 month timeframe and 14 months was kinda late.  Anyway, got my scans scheduled for Friday, so only a few days of scanxiety.  Where's my xanax refill when I need it!!! lol

    Thanks Iceman!

I will let you know.  Hopefully I'm not having Rosemary's baby.  Getting scanned on Friday!

    Open radical last Sept

It's been about six months for me and just recently I occasionally get some tightness or rigidity--not particulary painful.  I had a follow up with my surgeon and he suggested it might just be scar tissue.

    Scans and Results

Drop by and share the good news with us after you get your results. Have you transferred your care up north or are you going back down to your original doctors? I hope you don't have to come all the way down here just for CT scans.

    I'm up in SF now

Bought a house in the city and I'm getting my scan at UCSF.  Unfortunately my doc is UCLA and even though they're both 'UC', they're not sharing much if anything.  Oh well!

    All clear!

Bloodwork and CT scans (chest, abs and pelvis) were all clear!  I guess the sensations are nerves still reconnecting or re-organizing.  Hopefully someone will see this thread someday and put their mind at ease, but do get checked out!

Glad your scans are clear..!  FYI, I am just over 2 years post surgery..still get pains in several spots every now and then...usually just changing position makes them go away...
