As usual I have no good news to report. Cancer has spread to bones, vertabrae and sternum. Chemo pretty much did nothing. We saw another Dr who wants to start mom on a clinical trial. She did not give her a time limit on how long she has left but did say she will die from this cancer. previous DR gave her months. She is getting ready to switch from phentenol pain drip to methadone. Tumor is really hurting her legs and hips and they think this will be better for her pain. She can walk but not very long before her legs hurt. We are in the process of getting her a wheelchair. CANCER SUCKS!! But with that said, she still has the fighting spirit and will NOT give up. So neither will I. My sister is getting married on June 7th and we have a relay for life to go to on June 20th, where she said she will walk the survivors walk. So if cancer plans on taking her, it will have to just wait cause she has plans. ) Hope all is well for u ladies, and thank u for thinking of me and my mom

Oh, I am so sorry. I was really hoping that the chemo was working and your mom was feeling better. I know the pain has been hard on her. I hope the methadone helps. She should not have to suffer.
my friend has bone mets from prostate cancer and has had a hard time with mobility. radiation helped with the spinal met, got him walking again, but the met on his femer was radiated but weakened the bone to the point of fracture. Radiation may alleviate some of your moms pain also. My friend also said smoking marijuanna really helped a lot, and he was better able to function with other daily activities without the brain fog of pain meds.
what clinical trial has been suggested?
i truly hope your mom finds comfort and peace and knows how lucky she is to have a wonderful daughter by her side. She sounds like a wonderful woman, a wonderful mom, and I know your life was enriched with her presence, and continues to be despite her current struggles.
Prayers for a cure continue, along with love, light and peace.

she did try the marijauna and it has helped her appetite. She had gotten down to 116 but is now back up to 121. So it was worth it. First time she has ever tried it in her life!! Lol They said she can't get radiation again. I'm not sure what the clinical trial is called but they did say it has helped the majority of the people who have tried it. Something about it changes how the cacncer works?? Thank u both for ur encouraging words. U have no idea how much it helps means to me

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. While it sounds like some of the treatments are no longer an option a clinical trial is alway good to know about. I hope they get her started in that soon and it helps her feel better. What a gift participants in clinical trials give to everyone.

yes. I am very anxious for her to start. She just got home today from hospital. She was put in to switch from her phentenoyl pain drip to methadone. No more carrying around that bag anymore!! She said no one can call her bag lady now lol hopefully she will start clinical trial very soon.

Since mom had to be in hospital last week, and couldnt get clinical trial, and now it is no longer available. They are working to see if there is another one available soon. In the meantime she will get more chemo. This time it will be carbo taxol and toppotecan. That last one is a new one on me.

I'm sorry to hear she could not take part in the clinical trial but I am glad they are putting her on a chemo regimine in the meantime. Hopefully something promising will open up for her soon.
Did your mom try avastin?
other chemo to consider is gemzar which is really quite tollerable.
Is your mom more comfortable now with the methadone? I hope she is comfortable. Prayers and positive energy for you both.

Thank u! She is more comfortable with the methadone. Its mainly her right leg that hurts her all the time. She cant walk very far without it hurting and sometimes she can be doing absolutley nothing and it hurts. They say its the tumor pressing and making it hurt. They did one round of avastin, added it to her last round of chemo from before. They had said they werent sure about if it helped or not since she only had one round of it. So I was surprised when they said she was getting the other instead of avastin

Mom is back in hospital. This damn cancer now has her bowels blocked. She has a tube running in her nose to her stomach to drain out bile. If it dosent repair itsef while in hospital, she will come home with a tube running out of her stomach to drain. She cant get surgery to fix it cause shes too skinny and fragile they say. She was supposed to start chemo again on Monday and now that has been postponed. She hasnt had any since March 25th which means there is nothing fighting it right now. I'm trying to stay positive and hopeful, but seriously dont know how much more I can take
