what is "met"?

in Kidney Cancer #1

I am getting antsy about surgery next Tuesday.   I appreciate reading the posts.    I am not sure what many of you mean when you discuss 'met'?  I will probably enjoy pizza and beer for the last meal!

    Some people use this as a short name for another tumor site outside the first/original tumor in the kidney. It often is just a shorthand name for a second/third, etc. tumor. It also is a name meaning the cancer has spread/showed up in other places besides the kidney.
