magnesium deficiency from Erbitux
With only one more tx to go, they have decided that I have a magnesium deficiency from the Erbitux. They put me on a perscription and I was thinking a week or so but it had 60 pills and several refills. Did anyone else experience this? If so, how long were you on meds? Why can't I just eat some (creamed) spinach or something? Anyone familiar with magnesium deficiency? The nurse said it was not uncommon with chemo.

Hi hwt
I take magnesium supplement pill every day; one of the best ways to get it is in eating food rich in magnesium, but even then we might need a little extra.
It is something that Dr OZ says we need and is overlooked, you can read about it here at this link

Good article Hondo, makes getting the pill down a bit easier when you know the benefits.

Thank you for sharing. I would imagine we are low on many vitamins and minerals while undergoing treatment and during recovery. To think about what chemo and radiation does to us beside killing the cancer. I have a difficult time eating vegetables unless they are really cooked soft, takes alot of the good stuff out. Trying to build up the immune system.

My husband has had to have mag every time he has gotten chemo the last few weeks...they had given him a pres for the pills already but his was still low and i noticed lots of the people there were also getting it too..the nurse said its caused from the chemo..
Jim took barley powder the whole time in treatment and following. If you can't or do not like veggies try vegetable juice or smoothies. You get a lot of vitamins and micro nutrients from them. Jim has been on Jevity since treatment started but he always added the Barleymax to his diet and I would make him vegetable juice. He also drank a protein drink up until this past month.

I was reading through these posts and suddenly wondered if my diet of ensures and water was enough to keep my minerals and vitimins up to scratch. I have lived on 5 ensures and water each day for the last 3 months. I have no energy and I,m always tired? I put that down to radiation fatigue but now wonder if I,m lacking in anything.
