Latest Update on Friend's Husband
Hi all:
The lastest with Steve is rads going well. They saw reg. onc. Tuesday and Beki was a little discouraged as he didn't seem as optimistic as rad. onc. She had not mentioned a time thing until then and told me rad. onc. had said 6 mo-2yrs and reg. onc. was more on the lesser side of that timeline. However Steve cooked supper Tuesday nite (he's a terrific cook) and has been driving himself to and from rad. The steroids he's on seem to be helping a lot except she said you'd think he'd been smoking pot with the munchies he has because of them! He also has been weepy too. They did get in their house on Sunday but had to go back to her Dad's house these last two days because Steve and their younger son felt the floors needed another coat because they seemed to scratch easily. Their older son and his family were coming up today for the weekend. I'm planning on going up next weekend and so looking forward to seeing the house with everything in it and Chargee and I getting to stay in what their granddaughter calls Aunt Jan's and Chargee's room! I told her that miracles do happen but to still grab all the gusto of every moment and make the most of it. I so hope and pray he makes it past way past the 6 month mark. 6 months would be September and Labor Day for years now has been such a big deal for us as they have a camper on Camp Columbus and we gather there for the weekend for boating, socializing and the Knights always have this fabulous Labor Day barbeque and yard sale. I usually go up on Sat. and come back on Tues. which always gave us some us time after everybody left. Also her former boss and longtime family friend passed away yesterday morning. He had esophogeal cancer for the last 4 years and did well for about 2 years and then when the beast reared its ugly head again he had had pretty good success with clinical trials but in Jan. discovered he had mets/lesions on the brain and was out of options. He did have rad. also but did not seem to do much good. So I know what my precious best friend is feeling, thinking, etc. And now they have to deal with the loss of boss/friend and probably thinking this is what they too are facing. Please continue to keep them in your prayers as I know you will. Steve has tomorrow and next week for rad. tx and then a month after they'll do a scan and see where they are. Hoping and praying for a miracle.
