Secondary lactase deficiency
Hi all,
I have a question: has anyone experience of this after Cisplatin? I have some symptoms that are perplexing my team.
Basically I had about 15 rounds of Cisplatin ending in December 2013.(plus radiation) About six weeks ago I began to experience what felt like a sickness bug, lots of flatulence but no vomiting or diarrhea. The symptoms progressed and I then began to vomit. I couldn't even hold my head up so weak was I and then I had a conscious seizure in the hospital..no dehydration (as I was on IV fluids at the time) electrolytes ok so I don't know what it is.
It seems worse when I eat milk/ice cream but it doesn't necessarily follow after each time I eat it. It seems to come and go but is debilitating when it comes.
I'm just guessing that it might lactose related it could be anything. My chemo doc said she wants me to go to a gastro and a neuro doc to investigate. Any ideas?

Hard to say
Wow girl that is a new one and does not sound like any fun. I hope they find out for you soon but in the mean time stay off of all animal milk products. I am a vegetarian, I still eat eggs and stuff like that but I don’t use animal milk products, I use Pure Almond Silk milk in its place, check it out and give it a try. Better then being sick, will keep you in pray that all goes well.
God Bless
Hondo
