Surgery coming up

in Colorectal Cancer #1

After 7 months on erbitux and irrinotecan i finally got second opinion and got scan.m(hadn't scanned for,6 months cos if growing couldn't stay on erbitux)  Erbitux shrunk tumor mets early, prob for first three  months.   Scan unfortunately shows larger tumor grown 20 mm, now back up to 62mm. Bugger!   Surgeons looking at options as regime stopped working and CEA had climbed from 5-11"owner last couple months. Involves right lung upper and lower lobe for the three mets. They may just take the big one and microwave or radio the others?   Has anyone had the latter??   Bit nervous of the surgery but God willing it's the best way to go. Could all happen in next three weeks.  Appreciate your prayers. Xxoo

    Great you have doctors who are not afraid to be aggressive ...

    as the time draws nearer to your surgery, be sure to keep us updated. I will certainly be thinking of you. I can understand that you would be nervous ...

    just wanted to say i have no experience with any type of surgery on my lungs but just wanted to let you know i will be thinking of you and hoping for the best...Godbless...johnnybegood

    i will know more Monday.  My

    i will know more Monday.  My oncologist never pushed for surgery so got second opinion. so glad.  I read many have had lung surgery so will sure appreciate your prayers.

    I had double lung surgery

    I had double lung surgery last February they removed tumors from both lungs.  I ended up losing about 1/3 of a lung between the two.  I won't lie to you it was a rough surgery for me.  It took a while for me to recover and I still don't have the lung function that I used to.  I wish you great success.  I found out 3 months later that I have two more small tumors in my right lung.  I am back on chemo.  If I can be of any help let me know.

    Wow, u had double in one hit??  How big was your biggest?  Did u have nerve damage?

    I am not sure what my biggest

    I am not sure what my biggest was, had 6 or 7 in the right lung and 3 or 4 in the left.  They thought they could do one side laporscopically but ended up cutting on both side.  After the surgery the nerves were very mad and it has taken quite a while for them to calm down.  Not sure if I have nerve damage because I have had 5 surgeries total so I am numb in a lot of places.  I have had liver surgery also.  Good luck with your surgery.

    Did you get any more info, Hooley?
