Great and Not So Great News

Saw the ENT today for PET results.  The great news...the original tumor is gone and affected lymph nodes all look good.  The not so great news is that he has a new growth "neoplasm" on or in his thyroid that was not there before.  So he has an ultrasound scheduled in the morning and a needle biopsy scheduled Wednesday morning.  The doc said that thyroid cancer can be a side affect of the radiation.  Also has a lot of swelling, making it hard for him to swallow and breathe.  Doc put him on a lower dose prednisone for a month.  If that doesn't help it to go down on its own after that, he may have to have a trach.  Hoping and praying.........

Since you are a veteran you know the saying, "It isn't cancer until tested". As you say there is a lot of other swelling and such so try to avoid thinking about what it "might" be. Hard to do for certain but hang in there. Don
