Scan done, now we wait
Hey friends,
Well, the scan is done and now I do the thing I think we can all agree is the worst...i wait. I have an appointemnt Monday morning to hear the results. I hate this part. I envy those that get to have their scan and then find out the results the same day. I really dont know why my onc isnt able to do that, but o well. I feel good and im trying to stay positive of course, however that ugly little voice occasionally pops in my head. Its been 1.5 years since my auto transplant for DLBCL and this one is a milestone scan for me. You guys always seem to make the waiting time a little better.

Scanxiety
Mike,
You know that I'm about 2-3 weeks away from going through my own ASCT for DLBCL. I want to let you know that I've read your posts from that 1.5 yrs ago. Those posts greatly helped me understand what I'm about to go through. We all know that scanxiety you're going through. I'm sure everything will work out fine. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi Mike,
Boy howdy do we know how frustrating it is waiting for Scan results. I just wish they could put themselves in our shoes and see how it feels. I had a Vascular Ultrasound done on Tuesday and they said my doctor would call if anything further needed to be done. So...like you, I've waited for 2 days praying the phone doesn't ring with bad news at the other end. Kind of crazy to me. I'm going with the thought that NO news is GOOD news! Hang in there Mike, Monday will come....but just not fast enough! Prayers that your scan is clean! Best wishes...Sue

Hey Mike
Waiting is a pain. Fortunately I usually get my results the same day so it's rarely an issue for the scans. They are a teaching hospital and recently added on to the cancer center and updated so I think they have everything in one building now including inpatient rooms, etc. I've been meaning to visit the new floors and hopefully run into some of the great folks who worked with me during my treatments.
Hang in there. As Sue said, Monday will be here soon. Please keep us updated or come here to chat.

Drum Roll Please!!!!!
NO CANCER EVIDENT!!!!!! Love those words. The scan only showed the sinus infection that i had which is why i was feeling a little crappy over the weekend. The crazy thing is when i asked about my next scan in six months, the onc eluded that we may not be doing scans for quite some time, rather blood work every so often. Its been almost two years since the stem cell transplant...has anyone else heard of that? So blessed and so honored to have you guys be such a great support system. Thank you all!

Hi Mike,
Well, that's just wonderful news! As far as your doctor eluding to less frequent Scans, I would take that as a good thing and trust his judgement. Less scans is always better in my doctors opinion. I go once a year for a scan and every 4 months for blood work and check up. I still get my port flushed every month, but that's a quick in and out at my clinic. A little trick I do when my sinuses start acting up...cup your hand and fill with warm salty water and then sniff the salty water up each nostril...(sniff hard). I sniff it up both nostrils at once and then hold my head over the sink while it drips out. Repeat with just plain (no salt)warm/semi hot water...and then blow your nose really well. When blowing your nose, blow gently, both sides at the same time. Try not to put pressure on your ears and sinuses by blowing hard or pinching off the nostrils. I do this 3 times a day...morning, noon and night. You can buy saline sprays, but why waste the money when this works the same. Keeps the membranes in your nose moist, and cleans out particles of dust, bacteria, germs etc that irritate the sinuses. Can't hurt to try. Anyways...keep in touch, and enjoy your good news!
Best wishes...Sue (FNHL-stg3-grd2-typA-Dx 6/10-age 63)
