SERIOUS SITUATION DEVELOPED

Hello folks:

I have had a   big "knot" in my stomach for most of the past year.  Had an Endoscopy and it appears to be stress related due to mainly lymphoma and heart problem worries.   My life basically came to a standstill.  Have been concentrating on eating as much as possible.  Don't want to be skinny minny.  Difficult.  Anyway, the 2 years of Rituxan have worked well.  NOW I find that I must have heart surgery next week on Tuesday.  Have lost a lot of energy.  It will be an Aortic Valve replacement.

I agree that you will feel

I agree that you will feel much better and I'm assuming you will have much more energy - which is definately a blessing.  Prayers for sucessful surgery and recovery.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.  I saw a nurse practioner a few days ago, along with the surgeon (minor detail) and she said that you should start to feel very good after about 4 weeks.  Here's hopin'

My weekend is 1/4 decent.  Stressed stomach.  My family and I are anxious, but I was very happy to hear that my brother and his wife(Maine)  and daughter (up state New York) will be here on Monday.  Gives a lift to the spirit.

I'm doing pretty well - still deal with fatigue at times and some mild depression but I'm working on that.  I haven't been on as much as before and I don't post quite as much but I do read the posts.  I was very busy around the holidays and was out of town alot. Thank you for asking.

Hi Nancy,

  I'll be thinking good positive thoughts and saying prayers for you. Hopefully this heart surgery will be the ticket for improved health and less fatigue. I have a heart test coming up on the 4th, checking blood flow to my heart. It seems the Rituxan might have caused some calcification in the main artery in my stomach. First time a doctor has actually admitted that the Rituxan CAN cause heart/artery problems. Prior to my 2 years of Rituxan maint, my scans didn't show calcification, but since finishing all treatments last February, we are seeing some changes. Hopefully there won't be a huge change from last April's scan, but we will see. I'm glad your family has come to be with you, how nice of them! You rest and try to stay peaceful, as hard as that is, and please let us know how things go. God bless...Sue

So sorry about your heart issues too.  You have definitly not had the greatest year.  I just hope it is nothing major.  Bill has his last Rituxan next month.  We need the drugs to stay alive and thankful for all the study and new knowledge that goes on with cancer.  It has saved so many lives but we do have to deal with the long term effects, that's the hard part.  Our best to you, please let us know what you find out. You and Nancy are in our thoughts. B&B

Heart problems

Sue I think you remember 2 1/2 years ago when I had 2 stints put in. It could have been related to the R. I don't know for sure. The drs rarely admit to anything. Remember how everyone that had a BMB had hip problems afterwards , but the drs say its nothing to do with the BMB. That's Bullcrap. Damn, they are digging into your hip and pulling out morrow. They must think everybody believes it has nothing to do with the pain. Keep us updated with the test that are coming.  John

I'm sorry about all you have been through. It seems like sometimes 1 step forward 2 steps back in regards to TX and it's side effects but on the plus side, here we are. Just to share with you, I had an aortic valve replacement along with a quadruple bypass because of radiation TX. That was 10 years ago and my heart has been doing fine since.

 

BTW, today just happens to be the 30th anniversary of when I discovered the Hodgkin's.

I wish you an unremarkable surgery along with a super speedy recovery.
