abnormal pap and positive hpv
In 2005 I had a total hysterectomy for stage 3 ovarian cancer. Everything removed. Now I have had 3 abnormal paps last being high grade and a positive hpv test. I have had 2 scope tests that have been normal. Being sent back to my cancer doctor. What could it be?

Hi Terriiam
So sorry but I do not have enough information or medical expertise to hazard a guess. Is your oncologist ordering more tests? What about CA 125 test? I know how scary it is to wonder if anything's wrong, especially if you're already a cancer survivor. Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts your way that this isn't anything serious.
Hugs,
Kelly

MY DAUGHTER IS GOING THROUGH THIS ALSO
She is CIN3, which is hygrade cervical displaysia. She is only 27, and has had no other health issues. So, I understand your concerns.
Sending prayers to you, and hoping that all will be just fine! Please let us know when you get information.

after your doctor appointment next month. I'm glad that your CA 125 is normal.
Take care,

I had my total hysterectomy
I had my total hysterectomy in 2005 too. At that time it was only for a "routine" total hysterectomy but after removal they found cancer. Went back for staging. Endometrial Adenocarcinoma Stage 3a, Grade 2. I have had PAP smears almost every appointment since then. My last two, however (June 2013 and November 2013) came back abnormal (ASCUS) and the one in November also came back HPV positive. I was in the middle of changing gyne doctors but two of the doctors didn't act that it was no big deal. They said it didn't mean anything. I said then why do we do it then. No response. My new doctor said he probably wont even do PAP smears because it wouldn't pick up my recurrence.
Because you had high grade with a positive hpv, it means that you have a higher chance of it turning into cervical cancer. Sometimes they call this precancerous. However, they will probably want to take another look and may even take a biopsy to rule out anything immediate. It depends on your cells whether they were minor changes or major changes. It can mean that it is just precancerous. But in any event, your doctor will probably follow you or reexamine you.
My best to you! I hope this helps.
Kathy
