I'm usually on the Head and Neck Cancer discussion board - treatment ended in 2007.

But, now I have SCC in my esphagus, right at the top.  FIrst 11 dilations (closing off because of radiation scar tissue), nothing, then 12 & 13 something started to appear.

I'm in St. Louis - has anyone been treated here?  ANy recommendations where to go?

I had my treatment at Barnes

I had my treatment at Barnes Hospital! They are great there! My Oncologist was Dr. Lockhart, Radiation Oncologist was Dr. Parikh, and surgeon was Dr. Patterson. Barnes is the best place to be for EC treatment.

    H&N

I was at Barnes for a Week. Went to ER on Thursday, had a Trach on MondaY and also diagnostic scopes of throat andesophagus.

The ENT surgeon took it to the tumor board. They are treating it as head and neck cancer. It will be treated with surgery alone. My lowerthroat and voice box will be removed. My upper esophagus removed and rebuilt.  This will all be happening late next week or early the following.  Guess its hard to schedule a 12 hour surgery, but we are moving along quickly.

Dr haughey does this surgery a lot. I am happy with my decision to godot barnes. Glad that chemo and rads are not in the picture. They did quite a number on me last time
