in Lymphoma (Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin) #1

My daughter, who has been cancer free for two years last month went to the doctor yesterday. He said she had pneumonia, and started her on antibiotics right away. He also ordered an xray and CT.  He said that he is corncerned that the tumor might be back in her chest, but he did say that he might be pneumonia.  We are so worried, thought we might hear something back today, but nothing yet.  The reason she went to the doctor was because of a cough that she has.  Since yesterday she has taken two lots of antibiotic by IV and the cough is so much better it is unbelievable.  Is there anyone out there that can relate to this?

    I also might add that she is a lab tech, and her bloodwork results indicate an infection. The doctor is concerned tho about the hodgkin's returning.

    Still No Answer

    My daughter has since had a biopsy on her lung, aspiration (which indicated bloodclot) plus an echo.  The only thing that we haven't heard back on is the pathology, and the doctors are only saying pneumonia, plus he said maybe a blood clot. Has anyone ever had anything like this before happen to them?

    There still hasnt been

    There still hasnt been anything back from the doctor.  The antibiotics made her feel better but she often gets a tickle in her throat which makes her cough. There is no mucus on her chest not even enough for a sputum test. I am still so worried.

    My daughter saw her

    My daughter saw her oncologist today and got the results of her CT scan. He told her that she has an abscess on her lung.  She has been treated with antibiotics but she may need more. We will find out more on Monday after he speaks with a respiratory doctor. (Not sure of what they are called). I know that she stiill is sick, but is was so relieved when he said no lymphoma!

    Big relief

    Boy, that's a relief. My kids have Cystic Fibrosis which is a lung disease and they occaisonally need in home infusion therapy (PICC) when the bacteria in the lungs are out of control. It's always a little nerve wracking when it gets to the point where the oral and inhaled meds are not doing it but it's better than spending time in the hopsital. The line is put in the arm and snaked through the shoulder. No need to be fully anethtised. The IV does not require a pole; the meds are in plastic balls with what appears to be a rubber band inside. My son graduated from high school with one in his pocket under his gown. My wife and I used to infuse them but now they are old enough to infuse themselves so it's not that disruptive to their lives. The meds usually knock down the infection within a few days and after a week or so, the line is removed in our house by the RN that the infusion company provides. I'm not saying it's a walk int he park but a lung infection can be managed without the need to stay in the hospital. I wish you and your daughter well!!

    My daughter had a bronoscopy.

    My daughter had a bronoscopy.  the doctor went in right where thEy were concerned about on her lung. All the samples that they got, and according to the dr there were multiple,  showed nothing. Dead tissue Which sounds like scat tissue. He now wants to do some more testing.  She feels fine now-her cough is gone. He mentioned fungal infection but I was thinking she would be sick or at least not feeling well if thou was the case. Is there anyone out there that might have heard of anything like this.
