woke up on wrong side of bed yesterday
I did a boner yesterday. The appointment had been bugging me for the past few weeks. Scanxiety or just fried....don't really know. I called and cancelled. Got more than alot of grief from family members. My last appointment the doctor told me (onc.) that pretty much nothing more could be done other than follow the progression. You know if there was any tx's offered that would at least give me hope. But zip...none for my tumor type.
I guess I'm sounding like I'm having a pity party. Not really, just sick and tired of being sick and tired. So I'm taking a break from it all. I'm a 2 yr. survivor. That in itself is such a blessing. And I thank the creator for the time I've had to spend with life ! Wishing you all the best ! Katie

no wrong side
Hi Katie,
You did what is right for YOU and that is a good thing. Put the boogy man and the worn out and tired Katie in the closet. The content and happy Kate stays out, in the sun, near a window, basking in the sun, fully absorbing and taking pleasure in the beauty and love present all around you. Don

You
You must do what you think is right for you, not for anyone else. Your doctor was right. Our situation is different than what you are going thru, but when my husband declined further treatment, his doctors told him no need to see them. Didn't want to see the second oncologist anymore, anyway. Our H&N specialist said if there was anything he could do, to call him. My husband was still seeing the oncologist he had been seeing for 10 years for a rare blood cancer and he was doing the follow up every 4 months. But then in September when I talked my husband into asking about a CT scan, the oncologist asked why and wouldn't approve one. My husband is now on hospice although I don't feel it is necessary at this point but he is comfortable with them, so I just go along with him.
During our almost 4 year journey, all decisions have been made by my husband. It is his choice. Don't let your family members get to you. Make your decisions and stick to them. And have all the pity parties you want, you and all the cancer patients deserve them. Caregivers too.
Wishing you the best -- Sharon

Katie, feeling sick and tired
Katie, feeling sick and tired of being sick and tired is NOT a pitty party, but even if it was, you're ALLOWED to have one!!! you have been so upbeat and strong about your situation from the start. You are one of the strongest and most giving people I know and you deserve to have some down time! It is only normal. We will all continue to pray for you and keep you in our thots. Let us know anytime you want/need some time to vent, we will be here for you.
God bless you, Katie!!

Katie
Sounds to me as though you got out on the right side of the bed. I like your thinking and your control and your strength in gaining it. It's always nice to take a break and it sounds like you need some Teamster advise. Katie you still have 20 minutes left on your 10 minute break. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

I don't know how I missed this
earlier this week. You know, if I thought for one minute that you were just giving up or that you didn't have a grasp of your illness, then I would wonder why you skipped your appointment....however, I know you well enough to know when you say "I'm giving myself a break" that's exactly what you mean.....You are super informed about your disease, and aren't the type to sat you need a break unless you really DO need a break.
So sweetie-pie...there is no "wrong" side of the bed.....only the left side and the right side....YOU are the blessing!!!
