Another bullet maybe

Have had a nagging sore throat, more like sore side of mouth and lousy earache for a couple of weeks now, when I put my finger in my mouth and feel the spot that hurts I can make it hurt more. At first thought it was my lousy fitting dentures but have not used them for a few days and still the same. have an appt with ENT on Monday. Denis

    Hi Denis

My mouth and throat are a mess, second rads tends to do that.  I've had a rough couple of months, sore spot like you describe, but I can't open wide enough to touch it, lol.  Earache too.  This morning I choked on my cream of wheat, which started an episode of heavy bleeding.  The bleeding stopped within a minute or so, and is not the first time that's happened to me.  My tissues are that sensitive.  I had an exam by the ENT oncologist a few weeks back, and I admit i was apprehensive about it.  He foud the sore spot, not cancer, and poked around on it until my ear really ached.  The ear pain finally went away after a couple of weeks ( I probably  had it for two months), but the sore spot is still sore....

    OK, that was helpful, huhLaughing

This is helpful LTS. I feel

This is helpful LTS. I feel like I am always on high alert about my mouth or jaw being sore or an earache as those were my symptoms before being diagnosed. I mentioned my on & off earache to my ENT last time I was there and he proceeded to squeeze my jaw & said, "does that hurt?" It did in fact hurt a lot & he said it was probably a combo of Rad damage & maybe some TMJ.

Denis, praying the pain you're experiencing is nothing more than side effects. Best wishes to you!

    throat

    Denis,

I am sorry for your discomfort and hope a fix is right around the corner.

I am acutely aware of the tenderness of my throat.  Any overindulgence be it from spice, foods or coughing can induce a twinge, to a pain to what feels like the beginning of a sore throat (so far I have dodged that bullet).

I think the new normal will always include heightened concern, we can’t help it.

    Matt

    Sending positive vibes for tomorrow

Denis....as others have said, we are in hyper-vigilance when it comes to anything above our shoulders.  I didn't have any "real" symptoms on my first go-round, so when scan time comes I borrow from everybody else's symptom bags.  Sending prayers that this is another of those bullets you dodge....( got a feeling it will be).
