Just got the PEG
Just got home from getting the PEG, not too sore at all, but got light headed and sweaty, sat down , got cold compress and water, got better, wife drove home, sipped water, tried apple juice a little, seemed to upset my stomach, got home laying around, nasty pain but went away, took some tylenol though the soreness is not at all bad, anyone else get shooting pains, like their stomach was a little bloated, is subsided quickly but felt awful, going to have some chicken broth, jello and sherbert tonight, cannot eat until noon tomorrow, anyone else get these shooting pains that seem unrelated to the regular soreness. Thanks
Steve

Got one in September
I got a PEG in September. I had a pain off to the side of the site for about a week - and then it went away. It seemed like it was too far away from the site, but noone seemed concerned - said its normal.
Can you still eat by mouth? When you start using the tube, - but sure everything is at room temp - or luke warm (water). warm water you don't really feel - but cold water you sure do.

Lornal, thanks, according to the nurse practicioner who explained all about the PEG before going in to get it, these are probably muscle cramps, so i have used tylenol and an ice pack. Can't wait to start eating this afternoon, just water and jello since the surgery yesterday morning. I start rad/chemo treatments on the 25th and got the PEG now rather than later as recommended by my doc and others on this network. Great bunch here, should sleep tonight as well, althought already practicing getting up and going several times a night.
Thanks for the advice
Steve

PEG
I had weird pains and cramps for about a day. Then, once I could actually USE it. I began feeling SO much better. My body needed that nourishment!! Don't forget to drink water by mouth AND put it through the tube to keep it flushed I hope you're feeling much better today!
