The turkeys are

 

(For new ones here the object is to add 3 words to the previous 3 words and it becomes a story that usually get very 'interesting/bizarre' with time.  

I just came  back from the mailbox and saw a rafter of wild turkeys so as it's heading towards Thanksgiving, thought a story that at least started with turkeys might be fun - where it goes only time will tell Wink)

(edited to change a 'whole group' to rafter - the correct term for a 'whole group'.)
