Skin cancer
Not me. Hubby just got the call this morning. Basal cell. I had looked into Moh's surgery in 2010 thinking mine was skin cancer. Local yokle wanted to send us up the road, a doctor goes to Modesto once a month. No, I say, call Stanford or CSI (California Skin Institute) in bay area. He has an appointment on the 19th. I might finally have to drive, yikes! Better go out and practice!

            easy choice
Seems like you made the wise and easy choice. If you can get care at Stanford and don't mind the manageable drive, then it is a no brainer to get care from a world class institute. Maybe the travelling central valley doc is fine but if nothing else Stanford has a lot of other eyes and ears to provide other opinions. Just stay off 580 for the rush hour (4am - 8pm) and you are good to go. And stay off the 101 too. They are ripping up the 80/101 but I'm sure you'll crawl through it. lol

I drive like an old lady, and now that I am an old lady I might be worse! I haven't driven in a year since I had my eye removal. It is legal for me to drive, just need the push and confidence. Up until 3 weeks ago I did not have much energy but in the last 3 weeks I am off pain meds, finished antibiotics and have been able to take daily walks, up to a mile now (yeah me). We will go through Los Banos so no 580, 101 just for a while in San Jose (that will be me in the slow lane with the big trucks). My husband likes to be first when he is driving, always passing the trucks, not me!

Myself, no amount of practice would help me on those freeways.
