CA 125 is inching up. Should I worry?
My CA 125 has gone from a low point of 15 in July & Aug of this year to 17 in Sept, then 21 in Oct & now 26 as of this week. Haven't seen the oncologist since this latest result; I'm quite sure he'd say, "Don't worry, it's still in the normal range." But my CA 125 had been on a steady downward course, from 2,800 on diagnosis in July 2012 to its low this summer without a single bump up along the way. Now that it's inching up, tho still in the normal range, I can't help but wonder what's going on. Has anyone had a similar experience? I know many of you have had CA 125 numbers go up much more & I should probably be grateful I'm still in the normal range. Thanks!

Just popping in as I still do
Just popping in as I still do from time to time! I want to see how you ladies are getting on X
Are you due to see your onc anytime soon? I know you are in a different country but Mum always had a nurse she could ring with any concerns, who would then speak to the onc if necessary, is this something you can do? If not I would get an appt to see your onc, you need to put you mind at rest, I can understand your concerns but as you know it could well be nothing to worry about. One thing I learned was never put off asking for help or advice, take care, you are looking great by the way

Thanks for your thoughts, Sue. I see my oncologist (or his PA) every 3 weeks, since I'm still on chemo. This latest CA 125 result is from blood drawn when I was in the oncologist's office for chemo on Wed., 11/6. I'll be there next on 11/27. The nurse who gave me this lab result from Wed. said the doc had seen it, so I know he would call if there were anything to be done. I was just surprised to see the number rising since the summer, because for the previous year it had been on a steady downward trend. The oncologist always has said, "Don't worry as long as it's in the normal range," and the surgeon said of the earlier slight uptick, "Don't worry until your CA 125 doubles and then doubles again." So I'm not going to worry until someone tells me to! Thanks again!
