Medicaid Update. Good news!!
After fighting for months...Medicaid in NC has decided that H&N Cancer is a "serious" cancer and has granted me my one year of coverage. They immediatley grant one year for those with lung, breast, brain or lymphoma (they call those the 'serious' cancers). I've made/received over 30 phone calls, provided more paperwork than anyone should ever have to, argued, pleaded and basically drove them nuts. They have granted me coverage until March 31, 2014. So, I got my year. They said it WAS a 'serious' cancer. Well, duh.... I hope I have helped others who will come after me, but I'm thinking maybe they got sick of me and gave in Either way I can move on with follow ups and not have to start many more payment plans. I was dropped, appealed, reevaluated and then approved. I had to be sent a new card and everything. Whew...I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of me. If anyone is dealing with $ issues...don't give up. Just like with cancer...fight, fight, fight!!!

So glad
I am so glad for you. I get so upset when we have to fight for everything that should be a no brainer. While we are still recovering and tiring easily, needing to be on the phone daily and pushing through the levels of administration for the company or govt.

you know
One of my friends and I were watching a football game the other day. He looked at the pink shoes and armbands everyone had on and said to me "i'm so sick of seeing all the pink." Not to take away from breast cancer, because it is a big problem, but they have a very active lobby. And lots of press. Head and Neck does't, and you have seen the effect close up. Good for you, keep on talking.
