Just checking in to say....
Hey guys. Not sure if anybody remembers me from earlier in the year? I had pre-cancerous Leukoplakia of the oral tongue, which was eventually excised. I'm doing great with my mouth now, but I'm going through ANOTHER cancer scare, LOL!
This time it's not H&N related, but as I posted quite a bit here earlier in the year I'd drop by and let you know whats going on.
OK, so this time it's my leg thats causing concern.
For about a year I've head a discoluration on the side of my right leg (in the thigh area just above the knee) It was like a bruised or grey colour. I never worried about because it didn't hurt and I do get a lot of red eczema patches on my legs anyway.
Over the summer a hardness began to form underneath the skin and it got a little hot and tender. I went to the GP thinking it was probably some sort of skin infection (there's nothing actually growing out of the skin into a lump, which is the weird thing about all this) and was quickly refered to hospital for an ultrasound.
The ultrasound was "inconclusive" but the presentations are "highly unusual"
The next step would normally be an MRI scan, but because I have an anchored bone implant in the skull (which is magnetic) I can't have that, so instead they are transferring me to a specislist hospital about 30 miles away that has a large Sarcoma unit. I'll be having a biopsy (yep I'm on my second biopsy this year, LOL) and we'll see where we go from there.
This time I'm much calmer than the terrible state I got myself into while waiting for my tongue biopsy and that's totally down to you guys and the calming influence you had on me back in February. I keep saying to family and friends (who are probably worrying more than me) "as some good friends like to say, it's not cancer until a doctor says it is."
Anyway, I'm off to take a look at the Sarcoma forum in a few minutes, but I just thought I'd check in and let you know what's going on.
Hope everyone is doing OK?
Gav

Hi Gavin
Glad the tongue thing turned out so well. You certainly know how to approach this new thing. Just keep moving forward, not crossing any bridge until you need to. Wishing you the best.

Hi Gav....
What did Rosanna Dana Dana used to say? "If it's not one thing it's another." You have had your share of "stuff" this year. Sending prayers and positive thoughts on your appointment at the new center. I don't blame you one damn bit for wanting to see 2013 in your rearview mirror.
Let us know what they say.

Gavin, of course i remember you!! it seems that some people get more than their fair share of bad news and you seem to be one of them. I will be praying for you and your mom. I'm sorry 2013 has been such a rough year for you. Maybe that means 2014 will HAVE to be better. i'll be praying for that for you and your mom. please let us know how you both are doing. I hope the tx won't be too rough on your mom.
God bless,

Of course...you're cousin Gavin! You're part of this crazy H&N family, like it or not! I'm glad to hear your first scare ended up ok, and I'll pray that this one does too! Also, adding your mom to my prayers. 2013 hasn't been the best of years for me either...I'm glad to see 2014 starting soon too!! Keep in touch and keep us posted.
