PROLIA /ELIGARD UPDATE
HAD appointment with urologist today----gave me another PROLIA SHOT. ANOTHER ONE IS SCHEDULED 6 months from now. HE performed a prostrate check via up the rear & said it felt very good. MY current PSA is 0.15---he told me I'm in remission & He may stop injections after DECEMBER which will mark 3 years on the drugs.
HE WILL keep monitoring my PSA & if it goes up I WILL HAVE TO GO BACK ON THE ELIGARD-----DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A CORRECT PROTOCOL????????
RESPECTFULLY

Prostate Check After Surgery
You bring up an interesting question- after radiation at Loma Linda U in CA I was told we still needed to have our prostate checked even if we don't have one. That was about 4 yrs ago and I have yet to have a doctor indicate I need a digital exam. Has anyone had a digital exam since prostate removal?
Also, I am not familar with Prolia- is that the same as Eligard? My 2nd uro told me one yr on Eligard was enough- there was no evidence to indicate 2 yrs made any difference in long term outcomes. So we stopped the Eligard shots and now just watch and wait.
Anyone on Eligard, you have my sympathy.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY----PROLIA IS FOR THE BONES ONLY----ELIGARD IS FOR THE PROSTRATE CANCER. I WS TAKING FIRMAGON BUT DOCTOR SWITCHED ME TO ELIGARD DUE TO THE LONGER INTERVAL OF SHOTS. ELIGARD SHOTIN THE STOMACH IS 4 monts apart while the FIRMAGON (DEGARLIX) is MONTHLY.
NOTE: I DIDN't have my prostrate removed----only had radiation(79 GREY)
CORDIALLY

I had a 6 month Eligard shot, followed by a second 3 month shot. One month after that second shot, I had brachytherapy - 70 seeds. My radiation oncologist said I didn't require any further hormone shots. So....my hot flashes should have started to end around mid-August, but here we are in mid-November and I'm still sweating like a horse.
