STAGE 1 INVSASIVE LOBULAR CARCINOMA
Hello, Ladies. I posted some time ago about a suspicious lump on my CT scan. After mammogram and biopsy, here is what I was told:
Clinically it is Stage 1 Invasive Lobular Cancer. It is estrogen receptive. It has been caught early, is only 1/2" in size, and is treatable. I will see the surgeon on Monday to discuss the plan. Right now, it's surgery to remove the mass and 2 lymph nodes from the armpit. CT scan and examination indicates no enlarged lymph nodes, so testing just to be sure. Surgery is out-patient, a couple of days rest, then I can resume almost normal activity. Probably will be given Tamoxifen or other anti-estrogen pill from here on. Lymph node results will determine if I need chemo or not.
I do have a load of questions for the doctor, but just want to get your feedback to see what else I should be asking. Any info you can give will be appreciated, even though I will be surfing the net this weekend to gather up info and my questions. The doctor has given us lots of positives on this, so I'm hoping you all concur. As a reminder, I am an OVCA survivor, 14 years now! My CT scan concludes NED for OVCA! But this is the same CT scan that detected the mass in my breast. For that, I am grateful, as it is deep and small and I didn't feel anything these last months.
Thoughts and prayers to all of you!
Monika

I was also diagnosed with ILC
I was also diagnosed with ILC breast cancer in November 2011 after my ovarian cancer diagnosis in July 2010. Have you had the BRCA and BART testing done? My breast cancer was 99% ER receptor positive and HER2+. I was stage 2b, my tumor was about 2". I had chemo first, including Herceptin, then my double mastectomy with tissue expanders then exchange to saline implants. Last surgery was September 2012 and I finished the year's worth of Herceptin in March of this year. I have to take Arimidex for 5 years. I also just had my CT for ovarian cancer this week - it continues to be stable and NED. My CA-125 has been creeping up, but so far I feel great.

And such an inspiration. You have been through so much, and I'm sending prayers for continued NED! (That CA125 can be annoying, can't it?!)
I had the BRCA1 and 2 test in 2006 (negative). But because my daugther has mild cervical displaysia, her doctor recommended that I have the BART testing done. I have three daughters, and want to pass on all vital medical history that I can, for their sakes.
I will see the doctor on Monday, and I'm hoping that the surgical pathology for the lymph nodes will be negative. Will update when I have more info. Thank you again for responding!

I don't know much about breast cancer types. I hope that it's not in lymph nodes and they can remove all of it and you won't need any additional chemo or radiation. Sending you good wishes and healing thoughts. Stay strong!

Monika,
I hope you will end up without having to have chemo. Stage 1 is good! Hopefully the tumor will be negative for Her-neu 2.
I had a small invasive Ductal tumor in September 2012 about 6 months after finishing chemo for stage 3 OVCA. Because it was Her-2 positive, I would have had to have chemo if the time since I ended hadnt been so Recent. I have had about 12 of the 17 Herceptin infusions which have had no side effects, and since I was post menapausal, I am taking Arimidex for 5 years. I haven't had many side effects from this either...some night sweats at first but better now. Basically, so much easier than OVCA!
i am BRCA2 positive so i had a double mastectomy without reconstruction with no regrets. Everyone is different in this regard.
Good luck with the results...one cancer should be enough for anyone, don't you think?

Your words mean so much to me. As all of you, and so many others, I will forge ahead and deal with this one day at a time. I would like to continue participating on this board, even though it is no longer OVCA for me. I've posted on the Breast Cancer board, and have had a few wonderful responses. But quite frankly, they have so many, many members there that it's difficult to sift through all the posts, much less receive responses in a timely manner, like our board here. Not a criticism, just sadness really that there are so, so many going through breast cancer. So, I'll say put for now, Ladies!
Luv, Hugs & Prayers to you all! Have a great weekend!

How could you even think about leaving us! I don't have any knowledge of breast cancer but I'm sure you will handle whatever come up, hopefully surgery will take care of it. You can do this and we are here to support you.
